The problem

Players had more choices, but no better way to decide

Storefronts, subscription libraries, reviews, wishlists, and release calendars gave players more places to find games, but not one place to turn all those possibilities into a confident choice about what to play next.

  • Recommendations favor popularity over personal context
  • Wishlists and backlogs collect options without helping prioritize them
  • Discovery usually ends with another list instead of a plan

The response

One path from discovery to a plan

Delayed Respawnse connects editorial content, structured game information, archetype-based recommendations, saved choices, and planning tools so players can move from "maybe someday" to a game that fits right now and a plan they can actually follow.

  1. 01

    Explore

Browse games, reviews, guides, and structured game pages.

  2. 02

    Narrow

Start with archetype-based recommendations, then narrow by platform, time, mood, and play style.

  3. 03

    Decide

Compare a smaller set of relevant games with the context needed to make a confident choice.

  4. 04

    Plan

Turn the choice into a personal play plan with milestones, priorities, and reminders, then adjust it as you play.

The product

From discovering a game to building a plan

Delayed Respawnse supports the full journey from exploring possibilities and narrowing recommendations to choosing a game and organizing how to play it.

Game Library showing browsable catalogue with game cards, save buttons, and search functionality

01

A catalogue built for meaningful discovery

Games are organized through a consistent data model that captures more than title and genre. Platform, play time, play style, mood, release details, and other practical attributes can power game pages, discovery tools, recommendations, plans, and editorial content.

Gamer Type Finder archetype quiz results showing play style profile

02

Archetype-based discovery

Players begin with an archetype quiz that identifies how they like to play. That profile is built into the recommendation system, helping Delayed Respawnse surface more relevant games before players narrow the results by platform, time, mood, and other practical needs.

Saved Plans showing an active Starfield Completion Plan with session schedule and progress tracking

03

Turn a choice into a personal play plan

Players can organize games by priority, set available play days and session lengths, choose completion goals, and generate a schedule around the time they actually have. Progress tracking, reminders, and plan adjustments help them keep moving without starting over when circumstances change.

More of the toolkit

Built for more than choosing the next game

Delayed Respawnse also helps players plan their time, preserve important details, and create personal references for the games they are playing.

Plan Creator

Turn a backlog into a realistic play schedule

Players choose when and how long they can play, assign priorities to their games, and select whether they want to complete the main story, additional content, or everything. The Plan Creator builds a session-by-session schedule, estimates finish dates, tracks completed sessions, and recalculates when plans change.

Saved plans can also support reminders and push notifications through the responsive tools app.

Map Maker showing Baldur's Gate 3 Shadow-Cursed Lands map with custom markers and notes

Map Maker

Create a personal reference map

Players can upload a map, place custom markers, and attach notes to locations, objectives, resources, or anything else they want to find again.

Game Matcher showing match results for Borderlands 4 with similar games and match percentages

Game Matcher

Find another game that feels like one you already enjoy

Players choose a game they already enjoy, and the Game Matcher uses structured game data, their player archetype, and broader preferences to surface similar titles and show the strength of each match.

Gaming Journal showing notes for multiple games with expandable entries and note management

Gaming Journal

Remember the details when returning to a game

Players can record notes about characters, story developments, objectives, decisions, and other important details so they can return after time away without losing context.

The work

Built as one connected product

The public site, structured game data, editorial content, archetype-based discovery, account features, planning tools, and responsive tools app were designed to reinforce one another rather than operate as separate products.

  1. Structured game data
  2. Archetype-based discovery
  3. Player tools
  4. Plans and reminders

Product decisions

Build the data around real player decisions

Game data captures the things players actually weigh, including platform, available time, mood, play style, completion length, and other practical attributes. Combined with the player's archetype, that structure can power game pages, recommendations, matching, and planning tools.

Connect discovery with action

Recommendations and saved games can lead directly into a personal play plan instead of disappearing into another list the player may never revisit.

Support players after the choice

The Plan Creator, Gaming Journal, Map Maker, reminders, and other account tools help players organize their time, preserve important details, and return without losing context.
